Hyalite Opal is a form of opal with a glassy and clear appearance which may exhibit an internal play of colors if natural inclusions are present. When highlighted with a UV light (as displayed in the pictures) the Hyalite Opal will glow a lime green!
These specimen are priced based on the amount of Hyalite Opal actually on the base rock, or matrix. The more Hyalite Opal, the greater the price. There are 4 levels - small, medium, large, x-large. The small will have some Hyalite Opal on one side of the specimen but most of the specimen is matrix. The medium specimen have about 50% of one side of the specimen covered with Hyalite Opal, or some amount of Hyalite Opal on 2 sides. Large specimen have about 75% of one side covered, or about 50% on one side and some on the other side. The X-Large specimen have almost 100% coverage on one side or more than 50% coverage on one side and coverage on the other side.
