. My first rock show was a huge success! I wasn't sure what to expect so I set my goals very low and ended up being very pleased with the results. My wonderful wife, Lyn, helped me on Saturday and I'm sure glad she was there! I made the mistake of telling her that I didn't think that I'd need her for Sunday as I expected the day to be slower, but that turned out to be a mistake. I ran from the beginning to the end trying to keep up! I hope I didn't keep too many customers waiting.
The large salt lamps ended up being a big seller, we had sold out of our stock on Saturday! The mineral specimens were good sellers as well, lots of folks picking up lots of varied specimens. I got a lot of comments that my booth was the best one there. My next show is scheduled for Nov 3, 4 at the Chippewa Nature Center in Midland, MI. Here is a link to the show: Mid-Michigan Rock Club Annual Show. I hope to see your there! Leave me a comment if you'd like to have me bring anything specific, there's not much time to order new material that I don't already have but I am going to make a trip to a couple of my wholesalers next week so I can pick up some things. Welcome to Motown Rocks!
Our web site has finally gone live! All of the details associated with the setup of the company, building up of inventory, and ALL of details of getting things going seemed never ending . It's exciting to have a place that we can call our own and have more control over the creativity associated with it. A little bit about myself. . .I am no mineralogist, geologist, or gemologist. I'm just another person with a love for all things natural, especially those that the earth has made. I know less about this business than what I do know but what I make up for in knowledge I hope I make up for in enthusiasm. If I make a mistake with a mineral identification it's not because I'm trying to pull something over you, it's just that I've made a mistake. I'll continue to research and learn and hopefully, I'll be able to minimize my mistakes. If you're not 100% satisfied with any product that you purchase form me please let me know, I'll do anything in my power to make things as best as I can. We are a small online retailer, we make some sales online, we sell at some trade shows in the Michigan area and anywhere else we can find people that are looking for interesting rocks, minerals and fossils. We don't have a brick and mortar store yet, maybe we never will, it all depends on the interest we receive as we build up this business. I am a member of the Michigan Mineralogical Society, the Livingston Gem and Mineral Society and love to engage with this groups to socialize with like-mined individuals and learn from their considerable knowledge and experiences. I like to collect minerals but even more I like to be out in the field digging for new treasures! I don;t fin it too hard to part with something that I had purchased from someone else but I find it extremely difficult to part with something that I found myself! My intent is to post in this blog periodically as I come across things that I feel might be of interest to others, maybe that will be weekly, maybe not! I'd love to meet you, drop me a comment here, or drop me an email and let me know what you're into! Todd - Motown Rocks |
